Sunday Salon is a prose reading series and online magazine based in New York City. Sunday Salon publishes a digital magazine several times a year featuring new prose and poetry from upcoming and established writers. The Salon editors chose a single word, usually influenced by current events, to highlight the theme of each issue. I design each cover to illustrate that one word theme.
Published right after Barak Obama’s first presidential election, the “Audacity” cover design plays off Shepard Fairey’s famous “Hope” poster for the Obama campaign. Some people see hope with Obama’s Presidency while others see a coming disaster illustrated by he the prose titles and authors forming an apocalyptic nuclear cloud.
